Many people within modern society have a scarcity mindset without even realizing it. If you were born into mediocrity, likely from having working-class parents, then scarcity was taught to you before you could understand language, and initially you never stood a chance.
As a result, you probably went through life in survival mode, often accepting less than you actually deserve for the sake of survival, and ultimately having nothing worthwhile to show for it. However, that is not to say that you cannot unlearn scarcity, and build the life of your dreams.
Obviously, the first thing to do is to change your environment. Move out of the ghetto. You change your zip code by increasing your income, and you increase your income by improving your skill set.
So with that said, itâs either you go back to school to learn something marketable, or you find a way to monetize a natural gift or talent that you have. With the internet, and the advent of AI, your claim to fame has never been easier throughout all of history.
There is no kind, or easier way for me to say this, but the very second thing you must do is to ditch your loser friends. Definition of losers?
Anybody who is a religious zealot to the extent that they are of no earthly good to the people around them.
Anybody who glorifies the ghetto mentality, or ghetto expressions as an excuse to not do better, and then actually mock those who show up and do the fucking work.
Anybody who glorifies poverty when thatâs literally not how nature had intended for us to live.
What part of watching a dying child roast with fever knowing you donât have enough money to buy medicine for her, or risk starting a fire in the middle of a blizzard because you have no other choice but to use the oven to keep warm seems like a good idea to you?
That right there is real poverty!
The one no one talks about!
A part of ditching your loser friends is to change your zip code. But what is the point of changing your zip code just to go right back to hanging out on the block within the first week of you moving?
Thatâs literally how you get people who say, âyou can take them out the ghetto, but you canât take the ghetto out of them.â Your upgrade is literally a complete and permanent one. These are the days you used to pray for.
âThese streets donât love you, fam!â
Let the cautionary tale of Nipsey Hustleâs death be an example of why you shouldnât be that guy.
Finally, change your vernacular. Language has been scientifically proven to re-wire the human brain.
You are how you speak!
Thatâs why they tell you to speak like how you wish to write. So with that said, here are just a few examples of words that I personally use on a regular basis to put me in a different mental frame.
Job:
The word job is often associated with normies, and literally spells Just Over Broke. Having a job is not poverty, but sacrificing your own dreams to fuel someone elseâs is definitely a form of mediocrity. Furthermore, have you ever heard the wealthy say, âIâm going to my job?â No! They say that theyâre going to work. But I personally prefer to say, âIâm going to carry out my duties.â
Save:
They tell you that you gotta save if you wanna be rich. âLive below your means,â they say. âConsumption is a sin.â No! Actually, over-consumption is unwise. Itâs not even a sin, but it is definitely unwise in the sense that peacocking doesnât actually grant you any financial leverage. Even so, saving is but one form of leverage, and can be compared to a telegram cable versus Whatsapp. Have you ever heard the wealthy telling their kids to save? Neither have I. Instead, they tell them to invest. Better yet, they teach them how.
Hustler:
Now this next one is for the streets! Instead of saying that youâre a hustler on your grind, why not simply say that you are a businessman negotiating a contract. Doesnât that sound more respectable?
And donât even get me started on racial slurs turned into terms of endearments by changing the suffix. No other ethnicity on the planet has taken on an insult as something endearing, except one.
Itâs time we cut the bullshit and learn how to command better respect for ourselves if we want the world to respect us.
