  • The power of solitude

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Mar 16, 2025

If a plane goes even 1 mile outside of its designated parameter, it’s far off course, and it’s hard to get back on. The same is true for friend groups that’s wrong for you, or even family for that matter.

Two’s company and three’s a crowd. A wise man once told me that if you give the devil a ride, he’s going to want to drive.

Say for instance, you were born into a family of attorneys. Your father is a lawyer, your grandfather is a lawyer, and his father before him was a lawyer. For the entirety of your life so far, you have been told that you must follow in their footsteps. You go along to get along even though you have always wanted to be a singer.

Legal papers may bore you, but music is your passion. If you don’t break free from among them and take a plunge into the deep blue waters to do some soul searching and seek truth, you will go on believing that law is your passion.

This would have been most unfortunate because not only have you missed your true calling, but doing so has caused a ripple effect that led to a brain drain in your preferred industry. You could have been the single greatest vocalist of all time. But now, you have allowed someone less deserving to steal your destiny because you think you’re supposed to be an attorney.

Likewise, over on the wrong side of the tracks, you always wanted to be an attorney. You tell your family and some of your neighbors out of naivety, hoping they would encourage you. Not only do they not support you, but they actually call you a divestor because they all collectively have a crab in a bucket mentality.

In order for you to get along, you foolishly turn down a scholarship to study abroad just so you can fit the mold for society’s expectation of you. Five years later, you are now a single mother of four with no man in the damn house, flipping burgers for a living. All your old school mates are living the dream, while you can’t even find the time to pick up a book after work.

Not only do you not know who you are, but the legal profession has also suffered a brain drain. You could have been the most legendary attorney of all time, but now an innocent man being railroaded by the system will lose his case and get sent to the chair because you missed your calling. That condemned man could have gone on to father a son who would’ve found the cure for cancer, but that will never happen now either, and on and on it goes.

It also doesn’t help that it’s difficult to break out of certain mental conditioning. Once you’re off course, it’s hard to get back on, and it usually takes something truly drastic taking place in your life in order to snap you out of it.

But before that drastic thing happens, you can choose to take a plunge into the deep blue waters and do some soul searching. What does that look like? It could look like many things, but whatever shape it assumes, solitude is definitely at its core.

When you shut out the useless noise and clutter, your brain starts talking, and when your brain finally shuts up, your heart starts talking. That’s usually when you remember what you wanted to do when you were fourteen, and still living at home with no responsibilities.

Solitude can be brutal, especially if you are an extravert, but even if you are not. It is when you are truly alone with no distractions that all the mistakes of your life will flash before your eyes. But it is also when you will discover who you really are.

Before that, you were seeing yourself through the lens of other people’s perceptions of you, but those perceptions are skewed based on their own biases and subjectivities. If you want to get an unbiased, objective perspective of yourself, you must be willing to enter your isolation arc.

Not only should you be willing, but also prepared to face whatever you will discover, because all of your life choices and mistakes might hit you like a ton of bricks. It could get pretty intense. You are not going to have any support, you will only have yourself.

If you are looking for some kind of higher power to be there for you to lean on in those moments, maybe you’re not ready for this. Your isolation arc might even reveal that the higher power in question is not really what you thought it was, but that topic deserves its own article. The bottom line is that the isolation arc is going to screw you raw with no lube, there is no buffer for this.

But once you are done, your covert enemies will be exposed for what they truly are, and it will then become clear to you exactly why they are your enemies. Most importantly, you will never make another decision out of fear, which means that no one will ever be able to manipulate you. After that, you will essentially become a whole new person, and your trajectory for the future will be back on course. It’s going to be a beautiful day.

  • The pros and cons of Capitalism vs. Socialism

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Mar 9, 2025

In last week’s article, I speculated on the next four years under Trump as well as outlined my expectations from his administration. But one of the topics I did not touch is the expected end of the welfare state, and how it would affect those who depend upon it.

This will of course take place in stages as they gradually cut social services one by one. Its impact on the economy will be negative to say the least, as those who depend on those services will become displaced. However, hard as it is to accept, ending the welfare state is a clear step in the right direction.

First of all, social services have for many decades served as a bridge to help get needy families out of poverty. The grassroots of the welfare state took place sometime circa 1968 during the Johnson administration. That was when planned parenthood programs initially took effect, and disproportionately targeted African-American communities in comparison to other ethnic groups at the time.

The main requirement for planned parenthood was to be the head of household as a single mother. Many black women at the time felt pressured to kick their man out the house in favor of a welfare check, and as a result of that, many black boys grew up without a strong father figure in the house.

This dependency mindset is particularly dangerous because it encourages dependency on a system that at any given moment can decide to starve them out. Not only that, but many rules were put in place that limits their sovereignty and autonomy under section 8 housing, similar to what one would expect in communist Cuba under Castro.

It’s one thing to temporarily use social services as a stepping stone to get ahead in life, and quite another to permanently rely on them. For some, finding their usual spot in the food stamp line every Monday morning is their chosen field, and it is revolting. They are making it bad for those who are actually making use of the opportunity, all while playing right into the hands of the racist, entitled, misandric, communist left who wants to keep them docile and dependent.

The idea of socialism is that the citizen surrenders his sovereign rights and civil liberties in favor of government handouts. The pro is that he receives the very basics of food, clothes and shelter. But what if those basic needs are met at the expense of some higher purpose?

Almost like how talk show hosts on commercial radio would rather waste precious airtime to distract you with useless banter when they could have been discussing existentialism and how it could impact your ultimate destiny. The con is that they control too much of your life. The likelihood of missing your destiny is much higher, and to add insult to injury they only provide you with a limited supply under the pretext that they have many mouths to feed.

We see examples of this in Cuba where food is rationed to one loaf of bread per week, per household. In 1970’s Jamaica where grocery items (often incompatible) were married to each other as bundle deals, and the government controlled the retail price. And finally in 1980’s China where entire families got evicted from welfare camps if they had more than one child per household.

Capitalism on the other hand allows for the individual to be more responsible in his pursuit of happiness. Though social services are available for those who need it, the onus is on the individual to decide how he would rather eke out a living. Preferably, he would do so by honing his passion, but not everyone is willing to commit to finding out what that even is, which is exactly the point. They don’t have to do any kind of soul searching if they don’t want to. They don’t have to do anything.

The pro of capitalism is that you retain most of your civil liberties, but the con is that the free market is highly competitive. For that reason alone, you will likely fall through the cracks of society if you don’t figure it out, and do so quickly.

Your landlord is practicing a form of capitalism when he raises the rent, and your employer is practicing the same form of capitalism when he cuts your hours so you can barely make rent this month. That specific form of capitalism is very vampirical by nature and requires you to bleed in order for others to eat. That is the kind of capitalism that everyone has a fucking problem with, but capitalism in and of itself is not inherently bad.

It is the very system that this great republic was founded upon back in 1776, that allows for someone who was born in poverty to change their lot in life.

The same capitalist free market that allows your employer and landlord to abuse you, also allows you to invent something truly life changing and register the patent for it. But you have got to stop doing a job and actually start working if you don’t want others to suck you dry. Socialism allows you to survive, and Capitalism allows you to thrive.

Is it really worth sacrificing long term goals for short term gain?

  • Prediction of Trump’s second term

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Mar 2, 2025

On January 20th, 2025, history was made when Donald J. Trump was inaugurated as the 47 president of the United States, thus making him the first two term president who has a gap in between terms.

This is a most welcome change to the presidency, because it has been four years since this country has seen any real leadership. Now that the gross incompetence of the Biden administration is in our rear view mirror, what could Trump’s second term mean for the future of America, and the world at large. In this article, I will attempt to predict, or speculate on the next four years under Trump.

First of all, what I admire about Trump is his swift and decisive ability to make a decision without apology. The best example of that was Friday afternoon when he along with Vice President Vance hosted the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the white house.

Trump made an example out of Zelenskyy after he wasted Trump’s valuable time by declining a cease fire intervention from the Trump administration. Zelenskyy was then essentially kicked out of the white house, and offered the opportunity to return once he decides what he wants to do going forward.

Zelenskyy will now have to go home empty handed as the bloodshed that’s currently taking place on his soil continues on his watch. This will make Zelenskyy less favorable in the eyes of the Ukrainian electorate, who will likely not re-elect him.

This latest episode is among the earliest signs of what to expect under the second Trump administration. We have already seen ICE raids being played out all across the country since the end of January, and more to come. Or did you really think that the raids have stopped just because the mainstream media have stopped talking about it around the clock?

Truth be told, very few immigrants come to this country with the best intentions, myself being one of them. You would think that most immigrants would be grateful for the opportunity to come over here, and do so with the intent of starting a business, purchasing a home, then eventually raise a family and help to uplift their community.

But no, most immigrants come over here with a cutthroat ghetto mentality to get a normie job and sabotage their colleagues at work. This is not a socio-economic issue, but rather, it is an issue of character.

If someone had a bad character right from the jump, giving them resources they never had won’t improve their character, but will only further enable them. Having stronger border protection won’t completely eradicate this nuisance, but it will drastically reduce the possibility of inviting more degenerates to come over here. We already have enough of our own problems as it is, and the push to end birthright citizenship is only the first step in the right direction.

Meanwhile, the donkeys over in the entitled madhouse to the left seem to get the impression that your interest in securing your borders and bringing all the American jobs back home somehow makes you a racist. Why? Because they can’t get a bunch of freebies anymore? The devil with all of them. Let them take a plunge into the deep blue waters and figure it out for themselves.

During a time when I thought I was one of them, it was only because I was genuinely scared of what I may have had to go through to get to where I wanted to go. But now that I am certain that pain is inevitable, I am more than willing to be fearless in stating how I have always felt. If they were smart, they would use that pain to mold them into who they were always destined to become. They’ll be alright. Or will they?

Trump represents capitalism, the first real capitalism that we’ve had in this country since the Reagan presidency. None of the Bushes were able to achieve that level of capitalism, and it is our duty as Americans to help Trump bring back the free market of the 80’s, where a guy was free to make a buck from doing what he loves versus what he feels he must.

But before we can get there, we must first weed out the mental illness that has taken over the status quo and tried to normalize itself within society.

It is filled with a special kind of envy, malice and entitlement so deep that it blinds all logic and reason. It is a disease, and it must be eradicated. This is not just about ethnic cleansing, but really more about preserving the way capitalism was truly meant to be.

However, no one is coming to save you. The single role of government within a democracy is to secure the unalienable rights of we the people. It is ultimately up to you to use that liberty to pursue happiness. Read, listen, study, journal, network if you must, but then finally take the necessary first step in order to get ahead.

Answer the call. Choose the right side of history. This is a fight for the future.

  • Another Life: Twilight Zone episode review

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Feb 23, 2025

    Intro:

Welcome back to The Buckinchere Transcendence. Here on this blog site, I have started a new feature where I will be reviewing books, short stories and other forms of popular culture on the last Sunday of each month, and I am pleased to announce that this is my first review for the year.

It covers a 2003 episode of the Twilight Zone revival mini-series titled, “Another Life,” that features a successful rapper whose happy life is constantly interrupted with visions of a brutal police interrogation where he stands accused of murder. Spoilers are ahead, so I recommend that you watch the episode first before reading this review. With that said, let’s begin.

The Twilight Zone was an American anthology series that ran for five seasons between 1959 and 1964. It was created by Rod Serling who was also the presenter of each episode. The series tackled many social issues of that time, such as greed, prejudice and power, and never failed to deliver without a hint of social commentary.

After five seasons, and 156 episodes, the original series ended in 1964, but there has since been three revivals, and one 1983 feature film, none of which strayed from the original mantra of the series. The episode that will be featured today was episode 26 from the second revival, hosted by Forest Whitaker. It premiered on February 5, 2003, written by Amir Mann and Brent V. Friedman, and starred Wood Harris as Marvin the tormented rapper.

    The Plot:

Marvin Gardens had the perfect life. He had the perfect home, a loving wife (Kimberly Elise), and he was a celebrated hip-hop artist, renowned by all. However, very early into the episode, we see that Marvin’s picture perfect life begins to crumble as he becomes haunted with visions of a brutal police interrogation where he stands accused of murdering a police officer.

The police officers savagely assault Marvin in hopes of getting a confession out of him regarding the whereabouts of the murder weapon. A female officer at the scene pleads with him to make it easier on himself by confessing, but Marvin maintains his innocence, and insists that he is a successful rapper, much to the ridicule of the male officers.

They tell him that his name is Dwayne Grant, and that he lives in the projects with his sister and their single mother. Meanwhile in another life, Marvin’s visions are affecting his work and his relationships, and people are starting to notice.

Fearing bad publicity, his wife Jasmine suggests that he sees a psychiatrist (Brian Markinson) who suggests that Marvin’s visions are rooted in repressed memories from his past. Marvin gets belligerent and berates Dr. Sinclair, stating that he worked hard to get to where he is at, and he doesn’t need any phony pills to tell him who he is, and that is when Sinclair morphs into one of the interrogating officers in the holding room as Marvin goes into another vision.

The visions gradually become more dominant, and it is soon revealed Marvin’s life as a successful rapper is actually a fantasy, and the interrogating officers’ account of him living in the projects is the sad reality of his existence. The police caught the actual killer, but only after they had already beaten Dwayne unconscious.

The female officer goes to his aid, and discovers some rap lyrics that Dwayne scribbled on a piece of tissue. She is also revealed to have fulfilled the role of Marvin’s wife in Dwayne’s fantasy.

    Analysis:

It appears that Dwayne was in an intense state of shock during the interrogation, a shock so great that in order to escape, his mind conjured up a powerful fantasy based on his single greatest dream, which is to become a rapper. He also managed to rework the attractive female officer to play the role of his wife in the fantasy, based on her compassionate nature, and her sympathy towards him.

This is similar to the Joker movie of 2019, where Phoenix’s joker in that film fantasized about being in a relationship with his neighbor Sophie (Zazie Beetz), and enjoyed the thought of her playing a supportive role surrounding his dream of being a stand-up comedian, and laughing at all his jokes. In both instances, the fantasies of Dwayne and the joker became so intense, that it blurred the lines between fantasy and reality.

A man who fantasizes that a woman who he does not know is his wife, and especially one who is on the opposite end of a power balance is usually deprived of love, as this is a clear sign of desperation. This suggests that Dwayne may have been involuntarily celibate as Phoenix’s joker was in the 2019 film.

Though it caused a great deal of confusion for Dwayne and the interrogating officers, the fantasy may have actually saved Dwayne, rather than harm him, because he might have snapped and gone mad without it. By delving deep into his fantasy of a perfect life, Marvin was able to save his dream by saving his sanity. In that moment, survival was his only objective, and he had to do whatever it took in order to make it to a place of safety.

    Personal Takeaway:

I first saw that episode in 2013 while living in a Brooklyn ghetto, somehow managing to survive between jobs while thinking about moving out to LA. The main character of the episode was very relatable to me at the time, due to the fact that we are both black men trying to make it out of a situation to where we would then be able to live out our dreams.

I found the episode to be very touching, particularly because it made me realize that there is a thin line between existing in a living nightmare, and living the life of your dreams. On the other side of all your fears, doubts and anxieties is everything you could ever possibly dream of. I recently re-watched the episode one Sunday night on the eve of my book release, and found the episode to be every bit as touching and relatable as ever before.

In addition to Raven Leilani’s Luster novel, this Twilight Zone episode is every bit as much to be commended for me following my dreams and becoming an author. I give this one a 5 out of 5 record albums, and I hope to see you on the next one. Thanks for reading!

  • A post-modern take on Maslow’s Hierarchy

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Feb 9, 2025

As a human being, one will experience different needs at different times of life. It is a part of being alive, and you will have these needs as long as you remain living. There are different needs that will arise at different times of your life, based on your current story arc. Some needs are more basic than others, such as food, warmth and water. The more basic the need, the more likely it is to be repetitive.

Of all the philosophers to explore the nuances of the human condition, none has come close to breaking down the hierarchy of needs quite like Abraham Maslow, an American psychologist of Russian-jewish heritage who lived between 1908 and 1970.

Maslow first proposed the hierarchy of needs in his 1943 paper, “A Theory on Human Motivation,” where he listed a five tier structure containing a group of human needs in ascending order, suggesting that the fulfillment of one need would motivate an individual to tackle the following need on the chain.

Maslow’s hierarchy is controversial, and contains some inconsistencies. Due to its hierarchical structure, many are of the few that the order of each need must remain intact, as one is not able, or should not be able to skip levels. But in spite of its imperfections, Maslow’s hierarchy is nonetheless the most frequently referenced hierarchy as it pertains to human growth and motivation.

On the first tier, there are physiological needs, which include; breathing, food, water, warmth, clothing and sex. On the second tier, there are safety needs, such as; money, housing and transportation. On the third tier, there are social needs, such as; family, friends, sexual intimacy and a sense of community belonging.

On the fourth tier, there are needs of esteem, such as graduating from college, releasing an album, publishing a book, or getting married. Then there is the fifth tier on the hierarchy, a need for self-actualization.

Maslow may have structured his hierarchy with the best intentions in mind, however, there are some inconsistencies relating to the order of achievement. For example, except for breathing, one typically doesn’t expect for physiological fulfillment to be freely given unless one is a child, or disabled.

Even with adult disabilities, one would have to be lucky enough to live in a country with a good welfare program, or else be left for dead. However, that is the exception. For the most part, you need a job in order to buy food. But in order to gain employment and maintain it, one needs to be liked and accepted by the group, or else they will either be used and discarded, or flat out rejected right off the bat.

Social acceptance comes from level three on the hierarchy, so therefore, based on that reason alone, it seems as though one should gain social acceptance first in order to survive.

Social acceptance is usually rooted in childhood connections that would have otherwise lasted a lifetime. But what if you constantly relocated throughout your childhood? Or what if you are just socially awkward? What if you are just an introvert?

Centuries ago, or in fact, even as recent as the 1980s, you would be left for dead without social support. Conformity is primordially ingrained deep within our collective subconscious, that is why all normies would rather conform to society than embrace their true nature.

Luckily today, with the advent of the internet, you can literally create something that adds value to the lives of others, and pay someone who is naturally more socially outgoing to market it for you. If you find that you are naturally an introvert, I recommend becoming an author and enjoying the benefits of faceless fame, the best of both worlds.

However, creating something that adds esteem is found at level four of the hierarchy. One may choose to approach the hierarchy based on one’s own tastes and interests.

For example, an extravert seeking employment may prioritize social conformity, even to the detriment of morality, while an introvert may choose to prioritize esteem. Another cause for concern is being able to secure food with no safe place to leave it, or no transport to even procure it.

So here is my revised version of Maslow’s hierarchy as it relates to modern life. Particularly as it relates to eccentric introverts, because my blog is not for normies.

First of all, make safety a priority. Once you are safe, do some soul searching with the intent of discovering your niche. This requires long, lonely periods of isolation from the world. My advice to set you up on the right path for rediscovering your niche is to remember what you loved to do when you were 18.

It also helps if you keep in mind that you will naturally be good at whatever it is that you enjoy doing. That niche will provide esteem while also providing for all of your physiological and safety needs.

Once you have rediscovered your niche and you are dedicated to your purpose, you will find that the right social support naturally forms around you. Others with whom you share a common interest will naturally gravitate towards you as they too become inspired.

So once again to recap, safety first, then esteem, then physical needs, then social support. Self-actualization can only be achieved by becoming exceptionally good at performing your niche, the very best. And that can only be achieved through many decades of consistently showing up and honing your craft.

  • Future of the Labor Force

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Nov 24, 2024

Employment is an essential resource that provides self-sufficiency and sustainability for individuals and families. People rely on jobs to keep the lights on and the refrigerator full.

They commute anywhere from 10 to 30 miles a day to punch their time into a time clock, and shuffle paper behind a desk for eight hours a day, just to maintain a sense of independence as a responsible adult.

The majority of the population within any given country have survived off working a 9 to5 job for over a century. But now, there seems to be a paradigm shift that definitely threatens the labor force as we know it.

The 9 to 5 grind, otherwise called employment, otherwise called indentured servitude, became more organized towards the turn of the 20th century. The 19th century would see the drafting of the 13th amendment under the presidency of Abraham Lincoln, that would abolish slavery for African Americans, and replace it with indentured servitude.

Under this system, immigrants, former slaves, poor whites and children alike were each paid a stipend to perform grueling physical labor. Only convicted felons were legally enslaved on American soil post abolition, a practice that continues through until this very day. Indentured servants worked anywhere from sixteen to twenty hours a day, under inhumane conditions.

This was really early in the game, and there were no laws at the time to protect employee rights and wages, so indentured servants were paid unfair and unlivable stipends. Many of them died due to overwork, dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Then came the 20th century, and with it came a paradigm shift from an agricultural economy to an industrial one. In this new economy, the forty hour work week was introduced, and so were minimum wage laws.

Child labor was outlawed, and it became mandatory for parents to send their children to school. Otherwise, they would be jailed for child neglect. Public schools were established for the children of the working class, paid for by their own property taxes.

John D. Rockefeller once famously said that he wanted a nation of workers, and not a nation of thinkers. Many have assumed this to mean that the children of the working class were receiving a different kind of education from that of the wealthy.

While the children of the wealthy are being privately homeschooled by a governess, who is teaching them how to invest and retain their wealth intergenerationally, the children of the working class are being forced into an indoctrination encampment where obedience and servitude is thoroughly ingrained in them, and they are exposed to a lot of bad influences from their peers.

This ensures that the cycle of poverty continues, and that the current working class will produce a working class for future generations. Only now, another paradigm shift has already begun, one that will forever change the landscape of the workforce as we know it.

With the advent of AI, tedious, repetitive tasks are delegated to the likes of Google Gemini and Chat GPT. This is especially true in manufacturing, construction and tech fields. All those jobs will be gone by 2040.

Thirty years from now, the 2020’s will be remembered as the era of the AI revolution, and it couldn’t have happened at a more convenient time. As more and more people are waking up to the ills of “Glorified Slavery,” they are turning to various forms of creativity for self-fulfillment as well as sustenance.

This would have otherwise reduced the numbers within the workforce drastically, except those numbers might have been cut regardless, as employees are made redundant in favor of AI.

As least now, former employees should have something to fall back on when the AI revolution runs its natural course. The path ahead will be a coarse one. This is due to the fact that although I believe everyone was born with natural talents, not everyone will get the memo in a timely manner.

Not only that, but there will be a lot of untapped potential that would take some soul searching, and that could take time. In the meantime, there will still be oligarchal expectations of societal consumerism, and if sales numbers should dwindle more than expected, there will be a push for people to work online so they can regain some income to spend.

It will be up to each individual to figure it out for his/herself, and decide if working online is something they want to do in the long term. Apart from that, most postmodern jobs will be in tech, whether as software programmers, or hardware engineers, but that’s only about five percent of the population.

If you are neither working online, nor indulging your own creative pursuits, you will likely fall through the cracks of society, and become a bum on the street. You will be lucky if you can find a commune who is willing to take you in.

That future status quo is not something far-fetched that might not happen for another hundred years, it’s right around the corner, and could possibly happen as soon as the end of the decade.

This is my final WordPress article for 2024. I will be going off on a two month hiatus, and will return at the beginning of February with all new articles and short stories for your reading pleasure.

  • Eccentricities of a left-hander

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Nov 3, 2024

“The function of being left-handed is an eccentricity in and of itself.” – B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

It is commonly known that throughout all of human history, most people write with their right hands. While there are some who are ambidextrous, being able to use both hands. This is what is considered “the norm.” However, very few people are entirely left-handed, and these are the ones who are considered weird.

If you are left-handed in 2024, thank your lucky stars that you were born at a later time. Because, for much of human history, left-handed people were brutally ostracized by society. They were accused of being witches and devils. Some were even burned at the stake.

Some school teachers would even go as far as to corporally punish left-handed children by beating them in their left-hand with a ruler, until they learned to write with their right hand. This practice went on until as late as the 1990’s in some countries.

The idea being that they would be unable to write with their left hand if doing so hurts from receiving a beating in it. This is all due to the fact that a lot of people have average minds, and their fear of the unknown doesn’t help matters much.

Instead of admitting that they simply don’t know the cause of something, they try to explain it away with their limited understanding of the world around them, and their egos would not permit them to do otherwise. This is very dangerous thinking, especially when there are children who are dependent on you for safety and sustenance.

But now, we’ve got it made. Never has there been a time such as this to be alive as a left-hander. With thorough research throughout the decades, and the public being better informed, almost all of the scrutiny we face today has been switched from physical harassment to verbal criticism.

Any comment about a left-handed person being a devil has since been reduced to a mere joke. A mean joke, but a joke nonetheless. We have come a long way, but we are still not there yet.

A lot of left-handed people suffer from low self-esteem, depression and suicidal ideation due to this misunderstood quirk of theirs. Just because the ostracism we face has switched from physical to verbal harassment doesn’t mean that it’s any less painful to bear, just not life-threatening, that’s all.

If you are ambidextrous, then do whatever suits you. But if your left hand is all you’ve got to work with, then it doesn’t help to go against the grain of your nature, as you will only end up driving yourself mad.

The thing to do is to embrace who you are, then try to understand yourself better. For starters, let’s discuss what causes left-handedness in the first place. Studies have proven that left-handers are born that way due to genetic luck, coupled with brain chemistry.

If the brain chemical leans to the right, one would become left-handed, whereas if the brain chemical leans to the left, then one would become right handed. This is something that happens as the unborn embryo is developing inside its mother’s uterus. Therefore, he has no control over it.

There are even Ultrasounds of the embryo unwittingly sucking its left thumb over its right one, or vice versa. Further observations of involuntary hand preference have been noted postnatally, during infanthood.

I also think it’s worth noting that being left-handed comes with intellectual and even emotional quirks, and not just physical. Left-handers are more likely to be creators and innovators.

Think about some of the greatest minds of our time, and throughout history. Innovators such as; Einstein, Tesla, Newton, Gates, Winfrey, etc. All of them have that one eccentricity in common that gets them in the door to the club of exclusive winners.

Left-handed individuals are more likely to pursue careers in creative fields, such as music, writing, painting, sculpting, inventions, etc. Which is befitting our personalities, considering that the function of being left-handed is an eccentricity in and of itself.

This is due to the fact that our brain chemistry leans more towards our right brain, which is the creative brain. Apart from that, some left-handers tend to enter politics. Notable left-handed presidents include; Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Obama. All of whom have served at some point or other within the last forty years.

Today, some left-handers have taken the liberty of celebrating their left-handedness as a quirk, or an eccentricity, rather than a mark of the devil, and I am one of them. I am B. Lorenzo Buckinchere, a left-handed journalist and author, and I approve this message.

  • The INFJ/ESTJ Dichotomy

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Oct 27, 2024

Character is everything. Learning one’s true character helps determine whether or not someone you’ve just met is compatible with you, and more importantly, how. It is pivotally essential to get to know someone’s nature, so as to avoid misunderstandings further down the road.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator consists of sixteen personality types, each of which is determined by comparing one preference to another across eight character qualities, pertaining to life choices, and how one typically makes them.

In this article, I will be comparing the two MBTI personalities who couldn’t be more opposite to each other.

The INFJ is the rarest, and most empathic of the MBTI. They are energized from being in solitude most of the time, as that is where they get their ideas. It is during times of solitude, that the INFJ receives inspiration from his own internal thoughts and imaginations, without the inconvenience of social distractions.

Once solitude is achieved, his intuition naturally kicks in, as that is when his creative juices start flowing. In fact, the precise order in which it usually works is that he taps into his feelings more during solitude, and it puts him back in his right brain that causes an intuitive creative flow.

Once he knows what to do, there is nothing to think about. He makes a snap judgment, often as soon as the following day. Judging is the only analytical trait of the INFJ, but the way in which he does it is a no brainer.

Then we have the ESTJ, the most logical and analytical of the MBTI personalities. Unlike the INFJ who has one analytical trait that adds some balance, the ESTJ has no emotional trait. The ESTJ is good for drafting military strategies, and making business decisions, but that is just about all he is good for.

The trouble with ESTJ types is that they think they can bring that rigidity with them into their interpersonal relationships, and it never ends well for them. INFJ types have a lot of eccentricities about them that the ESTJ will impatiently judge as simply being weird.

In fact, judging is the only MBTI trait they both share, and it happens to be an analytical one at that. The INFJ will judge the ESTJ in his mind, but ultimately won’t care what he does due to his nonchalant nature, unless it affects him directly.

So now, imagine a scenario where the ESTJ is annoyed by some of the INFJ’s eccentricities. Because he is stuck in his left brain, he cannot simply leave well enough alone. He has to somehow try to control what he does not understand, and if he finds that he is unable to control it, he must find a way to destroy it.

The ESTJ is also an extravert, so it doesn’t help that he heavily relies on external validation. It is impossible for the INFJ and the ESTJ to simply sit still in a room, and enjoy each other’s company in silence. The ESTJ will feel awkward about it, and eventually find a way to make some noise, just so the room can feel normal to him, hence why they call them normies.

This could take place in any setting. But for the sake of argument, let’s just assume that the INFJ is in a relationship with the ESTJ. The ESTJ will meet the INFJ for the first time, thinking she knows everything about him, based solely on what she sees, versus using her feelings to actually get to know the INFJ and appreciate where he is coming from. Decides for whatever reason that she doesn’t like him, then decides either to control or destroy him, based on her limited judgment of him.

And because she is an extravert, she cannot simply break up with him and walk away like the INFJ and INTJ are easily capable of doing, she has to fix it somehow. This is dangerous and reckless behavior on the part of the ESTJ. Hence why the ESTJ is a narcissist, and the mortal enemy of all introverted, intuitive types, especially the INFJ.

Imagine being the woman in the relationship, yet your boyfriend is more intuned with his right brain than you are. Her linear thinking, coupled with the irrationality that is an inherent trait of her gender would only further add to her solipsism.

Opposites may attract initially, but they do not sustain in the long run. ESTJ types should stick to their own kind, or at least other extraverts. The INFJ should definitely stick to other introverts, most notably the INTJ.

You can’t help who you meet at work, but you do have control over who you allow into your personal life. This is something to put into practice for your interpersonal relationships.

  • The Power of music on the brain

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Oct 20, 2024

Have you ever been in a generally happy mood on any given day, then suddenly find yourself feeling sad when a love song comes over the radio that reminds you of someone special? Likewise, do you find that you are rudely interrupted whenever an ad cuts into your music flow, or whenever you abruptly change the genre from something as relaxing as classical music to something as loud as rock and roll?

Well that is having to do with your brain, and how it processes music. You see, there are two sides of your brain, and each side processes things differently. In this article, I will be covering the power that music has over people and their emotions, and in order to get the full picture, I am taking it back to the beginning.

July 1518, Strasbourg, France. It was an ordinary medieval day under Roman rule, when a woman named Frau Troffea suddenly ventured out into the town square, and started dancing at random. Before long, other townsfolk decided to join in on the fun.

It wasn’t until after they realized that they were unable to stop themselves from dancing that they realized that what they thought would be fun was actually a living nightmare.

Hundreds of Strasbourgers danced until their feet were sore and bloody, but it didn’t stop there. Many of them danced themselves to death, suffering from hunger, thirst and exhaustion in the process.

This event came to be known as the dancing plague, a frenzy of inexplicable dancing mania that lasted day and night from July until September. No one seemed to know what really caused it. Particularly because everyone was dancing, but where’s the music?

This only further fueled the mystery shrouding the situation that led to numerous theories throughout the centuries, ranging from demonic possession, to the use of a psychedelic wheat fungus known as Ergotamine, similar to LSD.

The dancing mania of 1518 may be the most infamous account of a dancing frenzy taking place throughout history, but not the first. A few centuries before that in 1284, there was the tale of the pied piper of Hamelin, a mysterious nomad who was offered money by Hamelin’s mayor to help remedy a rat infestation.

His solution was to play some kind of magical silent flute that only the rats could hear to help lure them out of Hamelin. After he had gotten rid of all the rats, the mayor refused to pay him for his services, citing a number of excuses.

So out of revenge, the pied piper returned to Hamelin one year later on a Sunday morning while all of the adults were in church, and used his silent flute to lure their children away, never to be seen again.

The common theme of both stories is the hypnotic power of music on the human brain. A more recent example is a season three episode of The Twilight Zone, titled, “A Piano in the House.”

In this episode, a theater critic named Fitzgerald Fortune purchased a self-playing piano for his young wife on her birthday. The titular piano in question had the supernatural ability to bring out a person’s true character by putting them in a trance, depending on what tune it was playing at the time.

All of these examples may seem like fictional accounts of the power of music, but it alludes to the fact that we don’t fully understand the human brain, we barely scratched the surface. The brain is just as strong as it is vulnerable, and what makes us can also break us.

The dancing fever of Strasbourg suggests that the residents of that town were dancing to music that only they could hear. Likewise, the pied piper of Hamelin played a tune that only the children could hear, kind of like a dog whistle.

Perhaps the pied piper is immortal, and resurfaced in Strasbourg centuries later, assuming a different form. Perhaps he cursed the unsuspecting town of Strasbourg, same as he did Hamelin, using advanced knowledge of subliminal messaging that medieval surfs could not even begin to fathom, then mentally raped them with it.

Fast-forward to the present, and the youth of today are delinquent and disrespectful, all due to that ghetto rap music. Traditional African-American culture was a prideful thing, especially in the south. Ladies were classy, the gents were well dressed, and the music was respectful and evident of creative ingenuity.

But then, something tragic happened. Their culture was infiltrated, and they were sold a lie. The new order of the day is to be a “gangsta” and a “hustla,” and to envy one’s own brother for even his very potential to be prosperous.

Something similar happened in Jamaica during the 1980’s when reggae evolved into dancehall, following the untimely death of Bob Marley. Reggae was the conscious vibrations of the nation, but dancehall is the rebellious wild child, and all about the hype.

But here is what I am really alluding to. Did you know that dancehall is recorded on a 440 hz frequency, while reggae uses a 432 hz frequency? It is not just reggae versus dancehall, but all popular music is recorded on a 440 hz frequency, while traditional music, such as jazz and classical music are 432 hertz.

Each frequency has a different effect on the listener. Particularly because 440 hertz puts you into your left brain, which is useful for analytical thinking and reasoning, while 432 hertz puts you into your right brain, which is good for love and creativity.

The left brain may be good for critical thinking, but that’s all it is good for. The problem is when you stay stuck in your left brain, and allow that linear kind of thinking to cross over into your interpersonal relationships.

But if all you listen to is 440 hertz music, then it makes you more susceptible to suggestion without you even realizing it. And what if there really was an agenda to program the masses to be more narrow-minded, therefore easier to control?

So if there is a shift in the consciousness of post-modern society, it is most likely attributed to the fact that all mainstream tracks are being recorded on a 440 hz frequency. And though there are other factors to be considered outside of music, music is the main factor.

The good news is that indie artists tend to record their work on a 432 hz frequency, so there is an alternative that you can choose to listen to. Music is more than just entertainment, it is medicine for the soul, and definitely the mind. Under the right circumstances, it can also be weaponized against you, it is not to be trifled with.

  • Exploring the MBTI types

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Oct 13, 2024

Over the past three weeks, I have explored the sixteen Myers-Briggs personality types, particularly within the context of employment compatibility. However, Myers-Briggs can also be applied to other aspects of social life, such as friendships, dating and business.

In this article, I will be exploring the idiosyncrasies of each personality type, and how they might relate to one another. Because being aware of this and knowing how to apply it in real world situations is sure to allow for smoother interactions in all areas of life.

    There are eight character traits within Myers Briggs, four analytical, and four emotional. They are as follows;

    Left Brain Right Brain

    Extravert         Introvert

    Sensing         iNtuitive

    Thinking Feeling

    Judging     Perceiving

Some Myers Briggs types strictly lean to one side or another, while others have a mixture of both quotients to varying degrees.

    The way to know what personality type you are, as well as the personality type of anyone you are interacting with is to answer four questions that are as follows;

    1. Who are you based on what energizes you? (a) Self validating (Introvert) (b) Seeking validation from others (Extravert)
    2. Where do you get your ideas? (a) My imagination (iNtuitive) (b) The world around me (Sensing)
    3. How do you decide what to do with your ideas? (a) With what I think (Thinking) (b) How I feel (Feeling)
    4. How do you act upon your ideas? (a) Things must go according to plan (Judging) (b) I am more flexible to changes and prospects (Perceiving)

Keep these four questions in mind as we explore each type throughout the rest of the article.

    Introverts:

    1. Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging (INTJ)

The INTJ is an introvert who gets his ideas from his imagination, decides with what he thinks, then acts upon it by making a swift judgment. Though an introvert who gains ideas through his intuition, he is still analytical when it comes to executing his ideas, the opposite of the ESFP whose analytics lean more towards social contact (see number 11).

The combination of being introverted and intuitive, suggests that he values his solitude, and spends much of his alone time in deep thought. So then when it’s time to execute his ideas, he wastes no time in making snap judgments.

    1. Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiving (INTP)

The INTP is an introvert who gets his ideas from his imagination, and makes decisions based on what he thinks. But unlike the INTJ, he is more flexible to changes when it comes to deciding. He is more reserved in that regard, and that makes him a procrastinator.

But procrastinating has its benefits, especially if the outcome will be final, as there is room to make adjustments should the INTP change his mind. The procrastination of the INTP would likely piss off the more impatient judging types, especially those who have already spent a lot of time in thought.

    1. Introvert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Perceiving (INFP)

The INFP is an introvert who is inspired by their own imagination, decides what to do based on how it makes them feel, but tends to be more flexible when it is time to act.

The INFP is only one of two types where all four of his traits are aligned to one side or another. In his case, the INFP is entirely right brain dominant, relying solely on his emotional quotient. Unlike the ESTJ, who is the polar opposite (see number 10).

    1. Introvert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging (INFJ)

The INFJ is an introvert who is inspired by his own imagination and decides what to do based on how it makes him feel much like the INFP before him.

But unlike the INFP, the INFJ makes swift and aggressive judgements once his mind is made up, much to the shock of others around him who were expecting him to be entirely illogical.

This makes the INFJ the single rarest of the sixteen Myers-Briggs types, which often causes the INFJ to come into conflict with those with ulterior motives who thought it was easy to manipulate him.

The INFJ is the most idealistic type, and therefore the most creative. The INFJ is more likely to thrive from working in professions where he is free to express his creativity.

    1. Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving (ISTP)

The ISTP is an introvert who is inspired by the world around him, decides what to do based on what he thinks, but is open to change and prospects. One might rate the ISTP as being one of the more analytical of the introverts, yet they have trouble making up their minds.

As such, the ISTP tends to procrastinate when it comes down to them making decisions on how to advance with their plans. This can be frustrating for others around them, as they tend to become impatient with the ISTP once they realize that he is not quite as analytical as they thought.

    1. Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, Judging (ISTJ)

The ISTJ is the most analytical of all the introverts. He gets his ideas from sensing the world around him, decides what to do based on what he thinks, acts by making rigid plans, and is unyielding in his convictions. In spite of all that, the ISTJ still values his solitude, as that is when he thinks and decides based on what he senses within his environment.

    1. Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving (ISFP)

The ISFP is an introvert who gets inspired by sensing what is going on in the world around him, decides based on how it makes him feel, but is indecisive when it comes to acting upon what he has decided. His sensing trait adds analytical balance to his otherwise emotional personality.

    1. Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, Judging (ISFJ)

The ISFJ is an introvert who gets his ideas from being able to sense the world around him, decides what to do with it based on the way it makes him feel, then acts upon it with knowledge and intent. The feeling aspect of his character adds a sensitive touch to his general demeanor.

    Extraverts:

    1. Extravert, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving (ESTP)

An ESTP is the polar opposite of the INFJ. This is due to the fact that he is an extravert who gets his ideas from the world around him and decides what to do with his ideas based on what he thinks. But his shortfall is that he hesitates when it comes to acting upon his ideas. He is more open to changing his plans versus the INFJ who makes snap decisions and sticks to them. That one trait of being perceiving over judging makes him slightly less analytical.

    1. Extravert, Sensing, Thinking, Judging (ESTJ)

The only other MBTI type next to the INFP who is entirely aligned to one side or another, the left brain in this case. The ESTJ is an extravert who gets his ideas from sensing the world around him, decides what to do based on what he thinks, and acts upon his decisions by judging.

Due to being left brain dominant, the ESTJ is the most analytical of the Myers Briggs types, therefore the most controlling. It’s good to be analytical, especially in leadership roles, but excessive logic can work against you. As such, the ESTJ is the quintessential narcissist of the lot, and the mortal enemy of the INFJ (more on that later). They are rigid, and everything must go their way. It’s either their way or the highway, and they take this mindset with them into personal relationships. Because they are extraverts, they also tend to seek external validation.

On the other hand, they also tend to get things done, which is actually a good thing. Though they can be useful at times, one should tread carefully when dealing with an ESTJ. I could have said that the ESTJ should find balance in life, but instead I will say that the ESTJ should seek out other ESTJ types where they can happily thrive among themselves.

    1. Extravert, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving (ESFP)

The ESFP is an extravert who gets his ideas from being able to sense the world around him, decides what to do based on how he feels, and acts upon them based on perceiving and being open to change.

He is only half analytical and half emotional, the extraverted opposite of the INTJ, which adds some balance to the mix.

    1. Extravert, Sensing, Feeling, Judging (ESFJ)

The ESFJ is an extravert who gets his ideas from sensing the world around him, decides what to do with them based on how they make him feel, then acts upon them by making a firm judgment. He is mostly analytical, but the feeling trait adds a healthy balance of emotional quotient to his character profile.

    1. Extravert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiving (ENTP)

The ENTP may be an extravert, but still finds time to be intuitive when it comes to getting ideas. He decides what to do with his ideas based on what he thinks, but is more perceiving when it is time to act.

The ENTP is more balanced because he possesses two analytical traits, and two emotional ones, which makes him a bit more reasonable even though he is left brain dominant.

    1. Extravert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging (ENTJ)

The ENTJ is left brain dominant, with intuition being the only emotional trait. As analytical as he may be, getting ideas from within, versus the world around him, adds a nice balance that makes him more human.

    1. Extravert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Perceiving (ENFP)

The ENFP is right brain dominant, with extraversion being the only left brain trait within his character profile. Being an extravert adds a bit of balance to his otherwise emotional quotient that makes him more relatable.

    1. Extravert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging (ENFJ)

And finally, we have the ENFJ. An extravert who has equal balance between intellectual and emotional traits. This makes him more relatable to wider groups of people. Even though he is internally motivated, one can rely on him to make snap decisions due to his judging trait.

  • Abusive hiring, and the company fall guy

    Ready.

    B. Lorenzo Buckinchere

    Sep 29, 2024

Submitted for your approval, the new hire at a company. As soon as you arrive on the scene, it seems as though everyone at the job site is already familiar with you? Worse than that, it seems like they were expecting you all along. But how did they know your name if you were never formally introduced? In just a moment, you will read about a specific hiring practice that is far more common than you would expect. Yet more bizarre than the weirdest episode of The Twilight Zone.

It seems at first, that you are the teacher’s pet. Popular beyond word, and an instant hit at the job site, you find that your new colleagues naturally gravitate towards you. More than what is considered normal for someone they barely met. It seems like they are accepting you into established cliques. But why you?

This phase is called, The Charm. It is typically short-lived, and it usually isn’t long before you begin to notice that they really don’t like you that much. Every move you make, on and off the job is heavily scrutinized.

Your workload is disproportionately larger than everybody else’s. And your undying loyalty to everybody else in the company is expected, often at the detriment of your personal ambitions.

Before long, it is undeniably obvious that they really don’t like you at all. But what could have possibly changed? “What did I do?” Nothing. You didn’t do anything to warrant that kind of ill treatment. But if you challenge the status quo in any shape or form, it won’t be long before they find a reason to fire you.

What you perhaps haven’t considered, is that they all knew how it would end, right from the moment they first hired you. This is especially true if they have different client sites across town. They then wage a war of attrition by sending you to work at a client site far out of your way.

Say for example, 25 miles away by bus. It is even better for them if they know you catch the bus to work. Because then, they can be certain that you will be late more often than not.

As soon as you get there, they want to put you to work the graveyard shift. A huge inconvenience, as doing so goes in direct opposition to your circadian rhythm. Not only that, but they also want to single you out to do overtime, disproportionately more than that of your fellow employees. This cuts into your personal time, as if they haven’t already hijacked one half of your waking hours for the day as it is, now they want more.

Then they tell you that you will be paid time and a half for working overtime. This is gaslighting because that extra pay will only go towards paying bills and taxes. Perhaps it would go towards purchasing an extra meal that you wouldn’t need if you went home when you were scheduled to go.

You now find that working for them has cost you more in the long run, than if you didn’t need a job. But hey, what’s the deal? I thought the whole point of having a job was to make money. That is not the way they see it. They don’t want you getting rich off them.

Their whole agenda is to get rich off you. They are just using you until they decide that they are done with you. Then you will be left worse off than when you first started. Everybody is in on it, and it is entirely by design. But why were you of all people singled out for exploitation?

Do you remember taking a personality test when you were being hired? That test is called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). This test indicates what kind of personality you have, based on the way you think. They ask you a series of questions that seem irrelevant for your job description. But perfect for their agenda.

Typical Meyers-Briggs questions would include, “Do you prefer action thrillers, or psychological thrillers?” “Do you leave things up to chance, or see it through to the end?” “What is your favorite candy?” “Are you a Tootie Fruity?” And a very common one is, “What would you bring to the company potluck?”

People tend to answer those questions unwittingly, because they seem so harmless on the surface. Plus they also seem like a lighthearted distraction from the nervous energy that most people feel while on job interviews. It helps to put them at ease.

It is truly a pity they don’t realize the sinister motive behind those questions. They don’t seem to realize that corporations tend to reword the Myers-Briggs questions, then mix them in with other questions so as to be more subtle with it. But Myers-Briggs or not, applicants do have a right to ask the interviewer, “What is the purpose of asking me those questions?”

I have always stated that there are only three different kinds of people on earth; sadists, masochists, and hedonists. Sadists gain power and pleasure from inflicting pain, while masochists gain pleasure from receiving pain. Only the hedonist gains pleasure from both giving and receiving pleasure, therefore the most reciprocal of the group.

MBTI seems to suggest that there are sixteen personality types. I am of the view that each of the sixteen Myers-Briggs types fall under one of my three archetypes. Of the sixteen Myers-Briggs types, the INFJ is the rarest.

INFJ stands for Introverted iNtuitive Feeling and Judging. All that simply means is that you judge people, places and things based on the way they make you feel. And because you are an introvert, you do so internally by using your imagination.

Because you tend to process things internally, most people are intimidated by your silence. This is due to the fact that they don’t really know what to make of you. It’s just that they will never freely admit it.

So it’s either they will lazily and nonchalantly write you off as being weird and awkward, or they will do things deliberately to provoke you, hoping it would somehow make you show them who you really are. The same is true in all social settings, not just employment wise.

If you are an INFJ type, the company you are about to work for will find that out by having you complete the Myers-Briggs Indicator. Once they know who you are, it’s game on. They will move other employees around, just so they could make room to put you at a disadvantage. They will send other employees to befriend you with ulterior motives. They will spy on you, and test you without mercy. For no other reason than the simple fact that you are an INFJ.

Most companies are toxic, and tend to target INFJ types. It is possible that each company is incentivized by some higher power to antagonize the INFJ. They feel as though the INFJ’s only place in this world is to be everybody else’s slave. So their goal would then be to steal the INFJ’s place on the throne, and drive him into bankruptcy, homelessness, mental disease and substance abuse.

Or it could just be that the INFJ is generally hated by everyone for reasons that said people could not even begin to explain? Can you imagine being so cruel and sadistic, that you would knowingly send an introvert to work in a zoo as noisy as a mall or an airport terminal? Why not a quiet warehouse or a parking lot?

If MBTI was intended to create an easier path towards personality compatibility, then why are they subverting and perverting it for their own sick agendas?

For the INFJ, freedom is a priority, and it is often regarded as being more important than money. Now don’t get me wrong, money is also important, but it should never come at the expense of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. For that reason, the INFJ should never be caught dead working for another person. The INFJ should always strive to work for themselves.

The road to entrepreneurship can be quite the arduous one, as one may not yield short term dividends. But short term sacrifice for long term gain is a worthy sacrifice. You should never change your character to please anyone. But you will always be a target for the other types, especially extraverts, unless you rethink your list of priorities.

As INFJs we tend to be intuitively smart, so we will just have to figure it out. Finding an INFJ support group, and attending INFJ retreats across the world, is a really great place to start, and a great way to meet other people like yourself, who have had similar life experiences.

  • Introduction to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

    Ready.

In the complex sphere of human diversity, there is a need for smoother and more fulfilling interaction. Everyone has navigated the social scene at some point or other in hopes of meeting someone of like mind. But doing so can be quite the daunting task, as not everyone is sincere.

However, personality compatibility is necessary to allow for a more seamless existence. That is where the Myers-Briggs Personality assessment comes into play.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) was developed by American writer Isabel Briggs Myers, along with the help of her mother, Katharine Cook Briggs, during the second world war. It was later adapted into a personality test by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), who published it in 1962.

The MBTI is based on Carl Jung’s “Dictionary of Analytical Psychology,” where he discussed his theory on psychological types and individual preferences.

MBTI determines an individual’s personality type, based on a dichotomy between four different psychological processes and responses, that includes the following.

    • Introvert vs. Extravert
    • iNtuitive vs. Sensing
    • Thinking vs. Feeling
    • Judging vs. Perceiving

Whenever one mixes and matches each of the four dichotomies, it results in a total of sixteen Myers Briggs types.

    Introverts:

    1. Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging (INTJ)
    2. Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiving (INTP)
    3. Introvert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Perceiving (INFP)
    4. Introvert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging (INFJ)
    5. Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving (ISTP)
    6. Introvert, Sensing, Thinking, Judging (ISTJ)
    7. Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving (ISFP)
    8. Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, Judging (ISFJ)

    Extraverts:

    1. Extravert, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving (ESTP)
    2. Extravert, Sensing, Thinking, Judging     (ESTJ)
    3. Extravert, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving     (ESFP)
    4. Extravert, Sensing, Feeling, Judging     (ESFJ)
    5. Extravert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiving     (ENTP)
    6. Extravert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging     (ENTJ)
    7. Extravert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Perceiving     (ENFP)
    8. Extravert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging     (ENFJ)

Everyone has found themselves perpetuating both ends of the dichotomy at some point or other, but the type in which you are more dominant is determined by how you answer each of the following four questions:

    1. Who are you based on what energizes you?
      • (a) Self validating
      • (b) Seeking validation from others
    2. Where do you get your ideas?
      • (a) My imagination
      • (b) The world around me
    3. How do you decide what to do with your ideas?
      • (a) With what I think
      • (b) How I feel
    4. How do you act upon your ideas?
      • (a) Things must go according to plan
      • (b) I am more flexible to changes and prospects

If you prefer self validation over external social validation, you are an introvert. If you get your ideas from your imagination versus the world around you, you are intuitive.

If you decide what to do based on how you feel, rather than what you think, you are feeling. And if you are rigid with your plans, you are judging. That would make you an INFJ, the rarest of the Myers-Briggs types.

INFJs are the empaths of the personalities, thus more prone to being targeted by predators. Introverts in general should carefully consider with whom they would rather share their limited social energy, but INFJs particularly have an extra responsibility to guard their energy, and save it only for themselves or those who are willing to reciprocate.

The MBTI was a marvelous invention, and can be used to determine compatibility in platonic, romantic and professional situations. However, it is not foolproof, as there are those who have been known to use the MBTI to abuse those who are unsuspecting.

Join me again next week, as I discuss a very common abusive hiring practice.
